Low-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Delhi-NCR: Safety Tips and Impact

The quake occurred 5 km below the Earth's surface, and no reports of harm or property damage have been received. Such low-intensity earthquakes often go unnoticed by many people. Earthquakes below magnitude 3 are generally not felt, while those above 5 can cause damage, and those above 7 can be severely destructive. The Delhi-NCR region, prone to frequent mild and moderate quakes due to its location along the Yamuna, has caused concern among residents, especially those in high-rise buildings.

For safety during earthquakes, it's advised to leave the building if possible or take cover under a table or bed. Standing in a corner or avoiding elevators can also improve safety. Implementing earthquake-resistant construction techniques is recommended to mitigate risks.
