Gukesh will now face Alireza Firouzja in his next match. In the first game of the tie-breaker, Gukesh managed a draw after defending a tough position with black.

Meanwhile, Vincent Keymer stunned Magnus Carlsen with a 1.5-0.5 win in their tie-breaker. Carlsen, despite playing with white pieces, faced pressure from the start and Keymer capitalized on an unforced error to secure the victory. Keymer will now play in the final against the winner of the match between Fabiano Caruana and Javokhir Sindarov.
