In the WrestleMania IX: Becoming A Spectacle documentary, Hogan explained he was thrown from a Sea-Doo, hit by the jet ski, and knocked unconscious. WWE Hall of Famer Brutus Beefcake confirmed the account, stating the jet ski hit Hogan's face and fractured his orbital bone.

Hogan dismissed rumors of a backstage fight with Randy Savage, sticking to the jet ski story. Despite losing the Tag Team match, Hogan later defeated Yokozuna for the WWF Championship in just 22 seconds.
