Lionel Messi’s India Visit
The excitement around Argentine football icon Lionel Messi’s upcoming India tour is reaching new heights. Key details of his three-day itinerary have now been disclosed. During this short trip, Messi will appear in celebrity-based events across four major Indian cities, giving fans a rare chance to see him in person.
As part of the GOAT India Tour 2025, Messi will land in Bhagyanagar (Hyderabad) on the 13th of this month. He is scheduled to participate in a 7-a-side celebrity exhibition match at Uppal Stadium, popularly known as the Hyderabad GOAT Cup. During the event, Messi will be accompanied by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Supporters will have the opportunity to watch the legendary Argentine star live on the field, while several well-known personalities from cinema, politics and sports are expected to attend.
Begins in Kolkata
Messi’s India tour will officially commence on the morning of the 13th with his arrival in Kolkata. On the same day, he is expected to unveil a 70-foot-tall statue built in his honor — the tallest statue of him ever created. Due to security protocols, officials have said the unveiling ceremony will be held virtually.
Later that evening, Messi will fly to Hyderabad by a chartered aircraft, accompanied by a team of nearly 200 members. Following the Uppal Stadium match, the football star will conduct a masterclass for young emerging players. He will then take part in penalty shootout sessions, and the day will conclude with a musical performance. Messi will stay overnight in Hyderabad, and authorities have arranged extensive security measures throughout his visit.
Next Stop: Mumbai
The following day, Messi will travel to Mumbai. There, he will be part of a star-studded fashion show and is also scheduled to walk the ramp at a charity-focused event.
Final Destination: Delhi
Messi’s last stop in India will be New Delhi, where he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After the meeting, he is expected to return home later that night.
This visit will be Messi’s second time in India. His earlier trip was in 2011, when he played a friendly match in Kolkata against Venezuela.
