Sindhu dominated the first game 21-11, but the match ended early when Yamaguchi withdrew due to a knee injury, allowing Sindhu to progress further in the competition.

This result extended Sindhus head-to-head advantage over world number three Yamaguchi to 15-12. The tournament marks Sindhus first appearance following her recent injury setback.
