Neeraj Chopra won a silver medal in the Paris Olympics
India's star athlete Neeraj Chopra won a silver medal in the Paris Olympics. In the javelin throw final on Thursday midnight, Neeraj threw the javelin 89.45 meters in his second attempt. He stood second in the final where 12 people competed. Pakistani athlete Nadeem Arshad won gold by throwing 92.97 meters. Grenada athlete Pieters Andersen got the bronze.
In the final round, Neeraj succeeded in only the second throw in the total of six attempts. He failed in all other attempts. Pakistan's Arshad threw the javelin more than 90 meters twice. So far India has won five medals in these Olympics. The first silver medal was Neeraj's. Among others, three were in shooting and one in hockey. All these are bronze medals. The whole of India is hoping that Neeraj, the winner of the Tokyo Olympics, will win gold in this Olympics as well. But consecutive fouls dashed Neeraj's hopes. Neeraj created a record as the hero who received two medals in two consecutive Olympics.
