Returning bad boys, detectives Mike Lowe [Will Smith] and Marcus Burnett [Martin Lawrence] work outside the law on their new mission to exonerate Captain Conrad Howard, who is accused of involvement in a cartel.
But unlike 2020, this movie is funny by giving punch after punch in the most impossible situations.
Marcus has a heavenly experience after a near-death experience. And feels invincible. He's not afraid to cross the road, dance as cars speed by, stand on the edge of a roof, almost naked, and take a bullet (okay, maybe that's a stretch). But you get it.
It is made purely for fun and to keep your Josh (spirit) high. Martin gets the witty lines, but it's up to Will to make things funny with his responses. The actors share a seamless dialogue that draws you in immediately.
Special mention should be made about the direction. Filmmakers Adil and Bilal use some innovative camera work to give you a slightly unique experience. Action sequences are intense but not overbearing.
In fact, sometimes you get the feeling of being a part of the 'Counter-Strike' mission and acting along with the characters. It's predictable but doesn't compromise on thrills.
The cast packs a solid punch, with Joe Pantoliano, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Nanez, Jacob Scipio and DJ Khaled playing their roles.
The new cast includes Eric Dane, Ian Gruffudd, Rhea Seehorn, Melanie Libird and Tiffany Haddish.
Watching the climax feels like watching a 70s Amitabh Bachchan movie.
The run time of almost two hours is very interesting. The film does not overwhelm you with endless action gimmicks but allows you to immerse yourself in the journey. This is a perfect summer watch for those who want to have fun at the movies.
'Bad Boys: Ride or Die' will hit the theatres in India on June 7.
