Nokia Vodafone Idea 5G deal
Nokia has secured a three-year deal with Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) to deploy 4G and 5G equipment in India. This partnership aims to modernize and expand VIL's 4G network, with Nokia already serving as a key supplier. The rollout will enhance connectivity for 200 million VIL customers, supporting both citizens and businesses with high-speed, efficient 5G services.
Nokia will provide its 5G AirScale portfolio, featuring energy-efficient ReefShark technology and advanced MIMO radios, to ensure seamless 5G capacity and coverage. The company will also upgrade VIL's 4G infrastructure to be 5G-ready.
The deal follows VIL's $3.6 billion agreement with Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung to strengthen its network as part of a $6.6 billion capex plan. This initiative aims to expand 4G coverage to 1.2 billion people and launch 5G in key markets.
