Tata Sierra 2025 Launched at 11.49 Lakh With Modern Tech and Iconic Retro Design

Tata Sierra 2025

Tata Motors has reintroduced the legendary Sierra in a completely modernised form for 2025, combining its classic identity with updated technology, new engines and a premium, future-ready package.

During the launch, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said the earlier Sierra had become an icon in India, and the new model has been rebuilt for today’s generation while retaining its trademark silhouette. He also noted that the midsize SUV segment has seen little innovation lately, and the new Sierra has been engineered to surpass rivals in space, comfort and features. Tata’s Head of Global Design, Martin Ulharik, added that the SUV’s famous glasshouse and upright stance have been redesigned to suit modern tastes without losing the character of the original.

The 2025 Sierra has been introduced with a starting ex-showroom price of 11.49 lakh, with other variant prices to be revealed later. Bookings will begin on December 16, 2025, and deliveries are scheduled to start on January 15, 2026.

Sierra Exterior Design

The updated Sierra carries forward the instantly recognisable boxy profile, now paired with smooth surfaces, a bold stance and wide shoulders that enhance its presence. The iconic three-quarter glass area has been recreated using flush glass, a panoramic sunroof and a dark roof element to retain the airy feel of the original while meeting modern safety requirements.

At the front, the SUV gets a glossy black panel connecting LED DRLs, projector headlamps, an illuminated Tata badge and India’s slimmest production headlight units, featuring 17 mm bi-LED modules. The rear follows a similar connected-light design with a full-width LED bar and a clamshell-style tailgate. Since no supplier could produce the specialised tail-lamp setup, Tata even commissioned a dedicated manufacturing unit for it.

Other visual highlights include flush door handles, concealed waist seals, 19-inch alloy wheels, roof rails and protective cladding. The model has already earned the 2025 Red Dot Design Award, gaining international design recognition.

Interior Design

Inside, the Sierra debuts Tata’s new “Life Space” interior concept aimed at creating a peaceful, lounge-like cabin. The standout feature is the TheatrePro triple-screen system, which integrates a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch co-passenger display and a 10.25-inch digital cluster under a single glass surface.

Built on the ARGOS platform, the SUV offers a spacious cabin. A large 1525x925 mm panoramic sunroof brings ample light, while headroom measures 1,042 mm in the front and 1,004 mm at the back. Second-row passengers also get 973 mm of legroom. Soft-touch materials, ambient lighting and a floating armrest add to the premium feel. The boot space stands at a generous 622 litres.

Features

The Sierra is packed with premium equipment such as ventilated and powered front seats, dual-zone climate control with fast cooling, two-step reclining rear seats with boss mode, rear sunshades, an air purifier, a cooled glovebox, wireless charging, paddle shifters in select variants, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and a complete 360-degree camera system offering 14 views.

A highlight is the JBL Black 12-speaker system with Dolby Atmos, paired with Tata’s SonicShaft soundbar for surround audio. The model also introduces a head-up display for the first time in a Tata vehicle and includes the upgraded IRA connected features.

Powertrain Options

Tata is offering three engine choices:

1.5-litre TGDi Hyperion turbo-petrol

160 bhp, 255 Nm

6-speed automatic

1.5-litre Revotron naturally aspirated petrol

106 bhp, 145 Nm

6-speed manual / 7-speed DCT

1.5-litre Kyrojet diesel

118 bhp and 260 Nm (manual)

280 Nm (automatic)

6-speed MT / AT

An all-wheel-drive version will be added later, thanks to the ARGOS platform’s off-road abilities. The SUV offers a 26.5 approach angle, 23.1 ramp-over angle, 31.6 departure angle, 205 mm ground clearance and a turning radius of 10.6 metres.

Safety

The Sierra has been engineered with a reinforced structure using high-strength materials and a rigid bulkhead to improve crash performance. Safety equipment includes six airbags, all-disc brakes, ISOFIX mounts, 3-point seatbelts for every passenger, auto-dimming IRVM and multiple electronic aids.

It also features a Level-2 ADAS system with more than 20 functions like Intelligent Speed Assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep assist, overtaking assist, parking assistance, overspeed alerts and more. These work alongside 20-function electronic stability control, both front and rear parking sensors and the 360-degree camera system.

With its legacy design cues, modern engineering, multiple engine choices and rich equipment list, the 2025 Tata Sierra aims to bring a new benchmark to the midsize SUV category.
