Apple M5 MacBook : Apple is expected to unveil its next-generation MacBook Pro models earlier than previously anticipated, with the launch likely aligned with the macOS 26.3 software cycle, according to a report by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman.
In his Power On newsletter, Gurman stated that the upcoming MacBook Pro models, internally codenamed J714 and J716, will feature the new M5 Pro and M5 Max chips and are scheduled for release between February and March. macOS 26.3 is currently in beta testing and is expected to be released to the public in the coming weeks, potentially as early as February.
Historically, Apple has introduced spring hardware updates alongside later macOS versions, typically around the x.4 update in late March or April. A launch during the 26.3 cycle would therefore mark an earlier-than-usual release for the MacBook Pro lineup.
Further indicating an imminent launch, Gurman noted significant shortages of existing high-end M4 Pro and M4 Max MacBook Pro models across retail stores and online platforms. Such inventory constraints have often preceded new product announcements from the Cupertino-based tech giant.
Although Apple has not officially confirmed a release date, current indicators suggest the new MacBook Pro models could debut as early as February. Gurman also pointed to limited availability of the Studio Display, raising speculation about a potential refresh of Apple’s external display lineup.
The upcoming MacBook Pro update is expected to focus primarily on performance improvements through the introduction of the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. No major design changes are anticipated at this stage. Reports suggest that Apple may introduce a redesigned MacBook Pro featuring thinner chassis and OLED displays sometime in late 2026.
