Rubriks
Rubrik, a cybersecurity firm, has identified India as a key growth market for the next three to five years and aims to bolster the protection of critical national data from state-sponsored threats. Abhilash Purushothaman, Vice President of Asia at Rubrik, emphasized that India is a major focus for the company's expansion efforts, highlighting the need to guard against both state-run threats and insider risks. The company is actively collaborating with the Indian government to establish an effective cybersecurity framework.
Purushothaman noted that government contracts represent a significant and rapidly growing segment for Rubrik. He pointed out that despite increased investment in data protection, the threat from state actors remains substantial. As governments become more aware of the need for robust cybersecurity measures, the prevalence of state-sponsored attacks and data breaches continues to rise. In India, the average cost of a data breach has reached an all-time high of Rs 19.5 crore this year, with phishing and cloud misconfiguration being the most common attack methods.
Rubrik's commitment to India is underscored by its close ties with the Indian government and its substantial investment in the region. The company, co-founded by Indians Bipul Sinha, Arvind Jain, Soham Mazumdar, and Arvind Nithrakashyap, recently went public on the Nasdaq. Since its founding in 2013, Rubrik has garnered support from major investors like Microsoft, Bain Capital Ventures, and Lightspeed Venture Partners, achieving a valuation of $5.6 billion.
