UPI new rules Feb 15 2025
A major change is the implementation of an automated system for handling chargeback approvals and rejections through Transaction Credit Confirmation (TCC) or Return Requests. Chargebacks, which reverse a UPI transaction due to disputes or errors, will now be processed automatically for bulk-uploaded transactions, completed within the next settlement cycle.
This change aims to resolve issues caused by banks initiating chargebacks too quickly, leaving beneficiary banks insufficient time to address disputes. The new system will reject returns if the chargeback has already been accepted, ensuring more efficient processing. This automation will apply only to bulk transactions, not manual chargebacks through the front-end UDIR interface. All banks are required to follow these new guidelines.
