PlayStation 5 Pro launch date
Sony has unveiled the PlayStation 5 Pro, its most advanced gaming console, which will go on sale starting November 7, 2024, in select markets for $699.99. The PS5 Pro, priced 40% higher than the standard PS5, lacks a built-in Blu-ray disc drive but allows users to purchase one separately. It features a significant hardware upgrade with a new AMD GPU offering 67% more compute units and 28% faster memory, making it 45% faster at graphics rendering.
The PS5 Pro includes AI-backed upscaling with PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) and “Game Boost” technology, providing enhanced performance for titles like "The Last of Us Part II" at 60fps and compatibility with over 8,500 PS4 games. It is also the first Sony console to support Wi-Fi 7 networking and comes with 2 TB of storage, along with an extra NVMe SSD slot for expansion.
Sony is remastering several popular games as PS5 Pro-enhanced titles, including "Alan Wake 2," "Marvel’s Spider-Man 2," and "The Last of Us Part II Remastered." These games will deliver smooth 60fps gameplay at 4K resolution, with some running at 8K with improved ray-tracing capabilities, making the PS5 Pro an appealing upgrade for gamers seeking higher performance and better visuals.
