Actor Vijay releasing TVK manifesto
Chennai, Tamil Nadu: Actor-turned-politician Vijay on Thursday unveiled the manifesto of his party, Tamil Nadu Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, outlining a wide range of welfare measures targeting key voter groups.
The manifesto promises six free LPG cylinders annually for eligible families, 200 units of free electricity per household, and a monthly financial assistance of ?2,500 for housewives below 60 years who support their families.
In a bid to support economically weaker sections, TVK has also proposed 8 grams of gold for the marriage of poor girls and ?10,000 per year for tenant farmers and agricultural labourers.
Addressing the gathering during the launch event held at a star hotel in Chennai, Vijay stated that the manifesto is rooted in the principles of Aram (virtue), Porul (wealth), and Inbam (happiness), inspired by the classical Tamil text Thirukkural.

Meanwhile, political reactions have started emerging. Kayal Villi, daughter of former Union minister M. K. Alagiri, remarked that while the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) may be poised to return to power, Vijay’s entry could significantly alter the electoral dynamics.
She cautioned that underestimating Vijay could prove costly, suggesting that his growing influence may impact vote shares and create uncertainty in the electoral outcome. She also advised M. K. Stalin to leverage the experience of senior party leaders in navigating the evolving political landscape.
