Mumbai, Maharashtra, India: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the seventh edition of the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026 in Mumbai on September 8. The Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the event at around 5:45 PM and address the gathering, according to the Press Information Bureau (PIB).

The four-day Global Fintech Fest 2026 is being held from September 8 to 11 at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai. The event brings together policymakers, regulators, central banks, financial institutions, fintech companies, technology firms, investors and academia to discuss the future of finance and digital innovation.

The theme of GFF 2026 is “Potential to Impact: Agentic AI, Tokenisation, Quantum - Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance.”

The discussions at the event will focus on emerging technologies such as Agentic AI, programmable finance, tokenisation and quantum technologies, and their potential to transform financial services. The organisers and the government aim to explore how these technologies can support trusted, inclusive and measurable outcomes for citizens, businesses and economies.

GFF has emerged as an international platform for discussions on financial technology and the future of finance since its inception in 2020. The 2026 edition is positioned as a common platform connecting policy, regulation, technology, capital and industry.

The event also highlights India's growing position in digital payments and financial inclusion. Discussions are expected to examine how India's digital financial infrastructure can be further strengthened while adopting emerging technologies.

Maharashtra has also been positioning Mumbai as a major fintech hub. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has described Mumbai as India's financial and fintech capital, highlighting the state's startup ecosystem, venture funding, fintech presence and digital infrastructure.

The Maharashtra government has introduced initiatives aimed at supporting fintech businesses, including fintech policies, plug-and-play infrastructure and single-window clearances. The state is also developing initiatives around artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital public infrastructure to support the wider technology and financial ecosystem.

With global financial technology leaders, policymakers, investors and technology companies participating, GFF 2026 is expected to provide a platform for discussions on the next phase of digital finance and emerging financial technologies.
