Andhra Pradesh, India: The controversy surrounding the Mega DSC-2025 teacher recruitment process in Andhra Pradesh has intensified, with the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) demanding the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh and seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into alleged irregularities.

YSRCP leaders Konda Rajiv Gandhi and former MP Margani Bharath alleged irregularities in the recruitment process and demanded Lokesh's immediate resignation. They also called for a CBI investigation to establish the facts surrounding the allegations.

The YSRCP leaders alleged that some candidates had used fake Backward Class (BC) and sports-quota certificates. They also raised questions over selections involving participation certificates and sought clarification on the recruitment process.

Describing the Mega DSC as a "job mela", the YSRCP leaders alleged that teacher posts were being compromised. They maintained that an independent investigation was necessary to determine whether any irregularities had taken place.

The opposition party also alleged that unemployed youth and social media activists who questioned the recruitment process were being targeted by the government.

YSRCP president and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy further intensified the criticism, alleging that new issues were emerging in the Mega DSC recruitment and accusing the government of responding with suppression, arrests and threats instead of addressing the concerns raised over the process.

The ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP), however, rejected the allegations and maintained that the recruitment process was conducted according to the prescribed rules. The party accused the opposition of attempting to politically exploit concerns raised by a section of candidates and aspirants.

Government officials have also defended the selections made under the sports quota, stating that eligibility requirements were verified and that the prescribed recruitment norms were followed.

The DSC issue also featured prominently in the TDP's political messaging. Party leaders were urged to counter what the party described as a YSRCP misinformation campaign with facts.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday asked TDP leaders to respond more strongly to the opposition's allegations and alleged misinformation surrounding the recruitment issue.

Meanwhile, the government has announced plans to conduct three more DSC recruitment drives, signalling its intention to continue focusing on teacher recruitment as a major part of its governance and political agenda.

TDP MP and Union Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu also rejected the YSRCP's allegations, accusing the opposition of attempting to create doubts about a recruitment exercise through which thousands of teacher posts were filled.

With the YSRCP demanding a CBI probe and Nara Lokesh's resignation, while the TDP and government reject the allegations as politically motivated, the Mega DSC recruitment issue has emerged as another major point of confrontation between the Naidu and Jagan-led camps in Andhra Pradesh.
