Nearly 396,000 residents in Florida and southern Alabama were left without electricity early Sunday as strong winds associated with Hurricane Isaias swept through the region. The storm was moving northward, causing power outages and raising concerns about further severe weather.

The weather department warned that moderate to heavy rainfall was likely across the central Appalachians and the Mid-Atlantic region as the storm continued its northward movement. Hurricane Isaias has claimed four lives, according to the report.
