Narasapuram woman Kavitha

A 23-year-old woman from Narasapuram in West Godavari district died by suicide in Bahrain under unclear circumstances, leaving her family in distress.

The deceased, Kavitha, hailed from Chittavaram village in Narasapuram mandal. Following the death of her father, her mother had been working in Kuwait for the past few years to support the family. Kavitha, along with her three sisters, had been residing at her uncle’s house.

In an effort to contribute financially, Kavitha travelled to Bahrain approximately four months ago through acquaintances and secured employment as a domestic worker. On the 23rd of this month, she reportedly died by suicide by hanging in her room.

The employer informed her mother via a mobile message. However, due to language barriers, the message was forwarded to relatives in India, who later understood the situation. Family members stated that the exact reason behind her death remains unknown.

Representatives of Telugu associations in Bahrain have reportedly lodged a complaint with local authorities seeking clarity on the incident.

On Sunday, the victim’s family submitted a representation to Union Minister of State Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma, urging intervention to facilitate the repatriation of Kavitha’s mortal remains to India.
