Assam Floods: 125 Wildlife Deaths So Far

Flood Impact: Heavy rains and floods have severely affected Assam, impacting over 2.4 million people in 30 districts.

Human Casualties: 58 people have died due to floods, rains, and landslides.

Wildlife Casualties: 125 wild animals, including:

6 one-horned rhinoceroses

90 deer

Other animals

Kaziranga National Park:

Flooded due to rising water levels in the Brahmaputra River.

Over 60 forest camps submerged.

Wild animals are moving in search of food and safe places.

Animal Behavior:

Elephants are crossing the national highway to reach higher grounds in Karbi Anglong hills.

One-horned rhinoceroses are also seen moving along National Highway 37 for higher ground.

Rescue Efforts: Forest department has rescued 96 animals so far.
