Himachal cloudburst
A cloudburst struck Lagghati, Kullu, early Tuesday, damaging houses, roads, and vehicles; no casualties reported. Monsoon rains have killed 268 people across Himachal since June 20, affecting Mandi, Kullu, Kangra, Chamba, Shimla, and other districts.
Flash floods have destroyed farms, shops, footbridges, and hundreds of acres of farmland. Over 27,000 homes and countless animals have been destroyed, while roads, electricity networks, and water systems face severe damage, leaving several regions isolated.
The Manali-Kiratpur highway finally reopened after 35 hours, enabling the rescue of 1,300 stranded residents. The government urges residents to avoid travel in flood- and landslide-prone areas.
