At Least 51 Dead, 22 Missing In Himachal Due To Floods And Landslides

At least 51 people have died and 22 are missing in Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rains, floods, and landslides from June 20 to July 1, says the SEOC. All 12 districts suffered damage, with Mandi having the highest toll, including all 34 missing persons.
There are 103 injuries and 204 houses damaged (22 fully). Losses include ₹88 lakh to private property and ₹283 crore to public infrastructure, mainly roads, water, and power.
Kangra district reported the highest fatalities with 13 lives lost, while Mandi and Chamba each recorded six deaths, and Kullu reported four. On July 1 alone, seven people lost their lives. Recent livestock casualties totaled 84, adding to the 830 animals that died in June.
In response, the government has launched full emergency measures, operating a round-the-clock control center and providing a helpline number 1070 for public assistance. Rescue and relief efforts continue amid ongoing monsoon threats.
