Shillong, Meghalaya, India: Concordia University to confer honorary doctorate on aviation expert Tulsi Nowlakha Mirchandaney
Tulsi Nowlakha Mirchandaney, a prominent figure in India’s aviation sector, is set to receive an honorary doctorate from Concordia University during the fall convocation scheduled for October 28.
With a career spanning more than fifty years, Mirchandaney has made significant contributions to the Air Cargo and Air Express sectors and served as managing director and accountable manager of Blue Dart Aviation.
Her visionary leadership played a key role in shaping civil aviation policies that bolstered the sustainability of India’s cargo airline industry while enhancing both domestic and international supply chain networks.
Throughout her professional journey, Mirchandaney has raised operational standards in a field historically dominated by men, demonstrating consistent, results-driven leadership within the aviation supply chain. She has earned multiple accolades, including the Lifetime Achievement Award for Iconic Women in Aviation (2024), presented by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) at the Wings India Conference.
Originally from Shillong, she completed her MBA in aviation at Concordia University in 2000 and went on to establish a notable career in India’s expansive domestic aviation market. She continues to maintain a connection with Concordia by creating an endowment and bursary in her name.
Mirchandaney is also scheduled to deliver the convocation address at the John Molson School of Business on October 28.
In addition to Mirchandaney, Concordia University will recognize Kuala Lumpur Mayor Maimunah Mohd Sharif for her efforts in sustainable urban development and Nobel Prize winner David Card for his pioneering work in labor economics.
