Manipur has been in turmoil for the past one and a half years due to violent clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities, with several incidents of violence, bomb attacks, and widespread protests. Amid this, a recent bomb discovery near the residence of Manipur's Chief Minister, Biren Singh, has caused a stir. The Chief Minister's private residence is located in the Koirao area of Manipur, and a mortar bomb was found by locals just meters away from the residence on the morning of December 17.

The locals, alarmed by the discovery, immediately contacted the police. Upon reaching the scene, the police successfully defused the bomb. However, it was reported that the Chief Minister was not present at his residence during the incident. Local people suspect that the rocket-propelled bomb may have been fired the previous night and landed without exploding.

Following the incident, the police have strengthened security around the Chief Minister's residence. A swift investigation is underway to determine where the bomb came from and who was responsible for launching it.
