CERT Notes on the Microsoft Outage

This issue has caused global confusion, disrupting air services in countries including India and the United States. In India, flights at Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore airports experienced delays.

The Indian government has focused on this technical issue, with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology issuing advisories. Former Union Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhar noted that Microsoft 365 is widely used by millions of Indians and that the technical errors have significantly impacted many companies. He assured me that Microsoft would restore services soon.

CERT India has provided crucial instructions regarding the Microsoft problem. According to CrowdStrike Agent, Windows hosts affected by the Falcon sensor have experienced interruptions and crashes following a recent update. CERT's advisory noted that these affected Windows hosts were encountering the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) related to the Falcon sensor. They recommended booting Windows in safe mode, navigating to the directory, deleting the file containing the bug, and then rebooting normally.
