Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India: Tanvi Sharma, the World Junior Championships silver medallist, recorded the most remarkable victory of her young career at the Syed Modi International badminton tournament.

 In a thrilling second-round clash of women’s singles, the 16-year-old Indian shuttler defeated Japan’s former world champion and second seed Naomi Okuhara. After losing the opening game 13–21, Tanvi bounced back strongly to win the next two games 21–16 and 21–19, securing a memorable upset.

In other matches, 19-year-old Manraj Prannoy progressed to the Round of 8. Kidambi Srikanth also advanced to the quarterfinals after overcoming Suneeth Dayanand. However, sixth seed Tarun Mannepalli fell to Mithun Manjunath in a tight three-game battle, losing 16–21, 21–17, 17–21.

The doubles events also saw positive results for India, with Arjun/Hariharan in men’s doubles and Gayathri/Treesa in women’s doubles booking their spots in the quarterfinals.
