22 Naxals Killed, One Jawan Martyred in Separate Encounters in Chhattisgarh

In two separate encounters on Wednesday, Chhattisgarh security forces killed 22 Naxalites and one police jawan. The operations took place in the Bijapur and Kanker districts.

In the larger encounter, 18 Naxals and one District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan were killed in the dense forest area along the Bijapur-Dantewada border. The gunfight began early in the morning and lasted for several hours, with heavy firing from both sides. Police confirmed the recovery of 18 Naxalite bodies, along with a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives. The operation was carried out by a joint team of DRG, Special Task Force (STF), and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and search operations are still ongoing.

In a separate incident in Kanker district, four Maoists were killed after they attacked security forces during a combing operation near the village of Koroskodo. The forces retaliated, resulting in the deaths of four Maoists. The area is still being sanitized as the operation continues.
