Former Sikkim Minister RC Poudyal Found Dead in West Bengal Canal

The body of former Sikkim Minister RC Poudyal was discovered nine days after he went missing from his hometown in Chhota Singtam, Pakyong district. Found floating in the Teesta canal near Siliguri, West Bengal, Poudyal's identification was based on his watch and clothing. The Sikkim government has initiated a special investigation led by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the circumstances surrounding his death. Poudyal, a prominent figure in Sikkim's political history who served as Deputy Speaker and later as State Forest Minister, was known for founding the Rising Sun Party and his deep understanding of the region's cultural dynamics. Condolences poured in, including from Chief Minister PS Tamang, who expressed deep sorrow over Poudyal's sudden demise.
