GBS Syndrome Spreads to Jharkhand: 5-Year-Old Girl Diagnosed

A new case of Guillain-BarrĂ© Syndrome (GBS) has emerged in Ranchi, Jharkhand, after spreading across Maharashtra and West Bengal. A 5-year-old girl who recently returned from Maharashtra was admitted to a private hospital after experiencing difficulty walking and breathing. Doctors diagnosed her with GBS, an autoimmune neurological disorder that causes the body’s immune system to attack its nerves, leading to mobility and respiratory issues.

The girl’s sample has been sent to Pune for further testing, and local health authorities have been alerted. While the disease has led to deaths in other states, health experts reassure that preventive measures, like drinking hot water, avoiding contaminated water, and refraining from consuming undercooked food, can help reduce risk. The girl is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
