GRP Seizes Ganja Worth ₹8.7 Lakh in Agartala, Probe Underway

The Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP) seized six abandoned bags containing 37 kg of dry ganja during a routine check at Agartala Railway Station, Tripura. The narcotics, valued at ₹5.55 lakh, were confiscated, and an investigation was launched to identify the owner and recipients.

In a separate incident on March 12, security personnel found seven gunny bags with 21 kg of dry ganja near the Jirania-end bushes of the station. Valued at ₹3.15 lakh, the contraband was taken into custody as unclaimed property. Authorities suspect smuggling links and are intensifying efforts to trace the supply chain and curb illegal drug trafficking.
