Nine people lost their lives and several sustained injuries after the sudden collapse of the Gambhira Bridge, which links Vadodara and Anand in Gujarat, sending vehicles crashing into the Mahisagar River.

Emergency teams, including NDRF, police, fire brigade, and local volunteers, swiftly responded, retrieving nine bodies and rescuing six injured individuals from the river. Three to four vehicles were swept away.

Officials confirmed ongoing rescue efforts. Congress MLA Amit Chavda urged faster action. The collapse forced a 40 km traffic detour between the two cities.
