H-1B Visa Misuse Case: Texas authorities have initiated an investigation into alleged misuse of the H-1B visa program by certain companies operating within the state. The Texas Office of the Attorney General confirmed that action has been taken following concerns over possible fraudulent hiring practices.

In an official statement, Attorney General Ken Paxton said that civil investigation demands have been issued to three Texas-based firms. These notices require the companies to submit records related to their business operations, financial transactions, and employee recruitment processes.

According to investigators, the firms are suspected of creating so-called “ghost” companies and using deceptive methods to secure H-1B visas. However, the Attorney General’s Office has not disclosed the identities of the companies under investigation at this stage.

The probe comes amid growing nationwide scrutiny over the misuse of the H-1B visa program. In a related development, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has ordered an immediate suspension of new H-1B visa applications by state government agencies and public universities.

The suspension will remain in effect until May 31, 2027. Announcing the decision, Governor Abbott stated that the move is aimed at preventing abuse of the visa system and ensuring that employment opportunities prioritize American workers. Formal instructions have been issued to all relevant state institutions to comply with the directive.
