Victoria, Australia: Indian-origin pole vaulter Khushnoor Rungi has been selected to represent Australia at the World U20 Athletics Championships, scheduled to be held in Eugene, Oregon (USA), from August 5 to 9.
Hailing from Victoria, Khushnoor secured her place in Australia's largest-ever World U20 Athletics squad after achieving a personal-best clearance of 4.17 metres, meeting the official qualification standard for the international competition.
According to a statement from the Maribyrnong Sports Academy, Khushnoor has emerged as one of Australia's leading Under-20 pole vaulters over the past three years. She has consistently ranked among the country's top two athletes in her age category, reflecting her steady progress and competitive excellence.
The academy praised her achievement, describing her selection as a reward for her dedication, perseverance and hard work. It added that everyone associated with the academy is proud of her accomplishment and wishes her success on the international stage.
Members of the Indian Australian community also welcomed the announcement, stating that Khushnoor's selection highlights the growing contribution of Australians of Indian origin in sports and various other fields.
