IPS Officer Accused of Misconduct at Goa Beach Club Reinstated Transferred to Andaman

Eleven months after an incident in which Dr. A Koan, a 2009-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of AGMUT cadre, was suspended for allegedly misbehaving with a woman tourist at a beach club in Goa, President Droupadi Murmu has lifted his suspension.

Following this decision, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has transferred him to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Dr. Koan was suspended by President Murmu on August 16 last year after the Goa Police reported the incident to the MHA, accusing him of misbehavior while in an inebriated state at the beach club in North Goa.

Last year, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured the Assembly that "strict action will be taken" against the accused, asserting that such behavior would not be tolerated.
