Jaipur: Hospital Fire Claims 8 Lives in ICU

Jaipur, Rajasthan: A significant fire broke out at a hospital in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The incident occurred on Saturday at the government-run Sawai Man Singh Trauma Centre, where eight patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) passed away. Among them were two women. According to the trauma centre in-charge, Anurag Dakad, there were 11 patients receiving care in the ICU when the fire started.

Authorities suspect the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit. Meanwhile, 14 other patients were transferred to a different hospital for safety. Panic spread as thick smoke filled the ward and flames grew, causing patients to call for help. Hospital staff managed to move several patients to safety amid the chaos.

The fire department was notified and responded quickly, controlling the blaze after nearly two hours.
