Udhampur: A bus traveling along the Udhampur route in Jammu and Kashmir plunged into a gorge. Police reported that approximately 15 people lost their lives, while many others sustained severe injuries in this tragic incident.

The accident occurred at a place called Jalo when the bus was en route from Ramnagar to Udhampur. Udhampur DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma stated that rescue operations are currently underway at the accident site.

“The accident occurred around 10:00 AM, likely due to poor visibility at a sharp turn in the hilly terrain. We are conducting a massive rescue operation. We have identified 15 fatalities, while another 20 people have sustained severe injuries. We are currently shifting the injured from the accident site to the hospital; the condition of some of them remains critical,” the DIG said.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh spoke with the Deputy Commissioner regarding the incident and inquired about the ongoing rescue operations. He directed that the injured be provided with the best possible medical treatment. He further stated that he would remain available to local officials and is ready to respond to any emergency requirements.
