Kamakhya Express Derails in Odisha: One Dead, Several Injured

A train accident occurred in Odisha as the Kamakhya Express derailed near Nerugundi railway station in Cuttack. A total of 11 coaches tilted due to the accident. One person lost their life, and several others were injured. East Coast Railway CPRO Ashok Kumar Mishra confirmed the incident and stated that the Kamakhya Superfast Express had derailed.

Medical emergency teams rushed to the spot as soon as they received information. Injured passengers were given treatment on the platform itself. Senior railway officials also reached the accident site and started an inquiry into the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, railway routes were diverted to ensure there was no disruption to train services.

The Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Superfast Express (Train No. 12551) derailed at 11:54 AM on Sunday near Nerugundi railway station. Rescue operations were immediately launched, and injured passengers were shifted to hospitals. NDRF and Odisha Fire Services teams were involved in the relief efforts. Alternative travel arrangements were made for passengers, and railway authorities focused on restoring the tracks as quickly as possible. Several trains, including Dhauli Express, Neelachal Express, and Purulia Express, were diverted. Helpline numbers (8455885999, 8991124238) were issued for passenger assistance.
