Kangana Ranaut Receives Notice From Jabalpur Special Court

Kangana Ranaut Receives Court Notice

On October 8, 2024, the Jabalpur Special Court in Madhya Pradesh served notices to actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut. The notices stem from her controversial comments suggesting that India gained freedom in 2014 when Narendra Modi became Prime Minister. These remarks sparked significant outrage, leading to calls for sedition charges against her.

Lawyer Amit Kumar Sahu filed a police complaint regarding her comments in 2021 after local police took no action. The case was transferred to the special MP-MLA court, where Judge Visveswara Mishra has now issued a notice to Ranaut. The next hearing is scheduled for November 5.
