The Supreme Court has mandated that AAP candidate Kuldeep Kumar be declared the winner of the Mayor polls in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. Following the verdict on the Mayoral Polls, Kejriwal expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court.
Saurabh Bharadwaj, Delhi Minister and AAP leader, highlighted that the BJP, considered the world's largest political party, was captured engaging in malpractices during a mayoral election - all caught on camera. This poses a significant concern for the nation. The question arises: what might the party be up to in places without cameras and microphones? Can the Central Government be relied upon in those locations? The Supreme Court has brought the Central Government's actions into the spotlight in this matter, with the top advocate of the Central Government representing the Presiding Officer before the Supreme Court.
Reacting to the Supreme Court's decision on the Chandigarh Mayor Elections, Congress leader Sachin Pilot expressed his approval of the judgment. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding the authority and credibility of institutions such as the Election Commission, stating that any undermining of these institutions is detrimental to democracy. Pilot expressed surprise that the intervention of the Supreme Court was necessary to rectify the situation and urged for it to serve as an example for the future functioning of the Election Commission.
