Kerala Election Commission Declares Schedule for Upcoming Local Polls

Kerala to Hold Local Body Elections in Two Phases on December 9 and 11, 2025

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India:  The Kerala State Election Commission has announced that the 2025 Local Body Elections will take place in two phases, scheduled for December 9 and December 11, 2025. The vote counting will occur on December 13, 2025.

State Election Commissioner A. Shajahan revealed the election schedule during a press briefing held in Thiruvananthapuram. With the announcement, the model code of conduct has officially come into effect across the state.

Elections will be conducted in 1,199 out of 1,200 local bodies throughout Kerala. The Mattannur Municipality in Kannur District will not participate this year, as its local election is scheduled for September 2027.

Commissioner Shajahan further emphasized that the model code of conduct will be strictly implemented statewide until the election process concludes in the third week of December.
