Kolkata Rains: 5 Lives Lost, Heavy Flooding Disrupts Traffic And Metro

Intense overnight rainfall has left large parts of Kolkata waterlogged, resulting in five fatalities, including a 60-year-old man who suffered electrocution due to water accumulation. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow alerts for South Bengal, warning of continued rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds.

Flooded roads such as AJC Bose Road, EM Bypass, and Park Street are causing major traffic disruptions. Metro and train services, particularly the Blue Line and Sealdah south section, are partially suspended. Many schools have declared holidays as the city grapples with waterlogged streets.
