Landslide Destroys Sikkim's Teesta Stage 5 Power Station

A major landslide occurred in Sikkim, damaging the NHPC Teesta Stage 5 Power Station on Tuesday morning.

The 510 MW power station was destroyed after a significant portion of the mountain collapsed.

Authorities had anticipated danger due to frequent small rockfalls in recent weeks.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as nearby residents were evacuated in advance.

The landslide was captured on video by workers in the vicinity.

This is among the biggest hydropower projects in Sikkim.

Power generation at the site has ceased due to the damage.
