The Madras High Court has issued notices to TVK chief Vijay. A petition was filed alleging irregularities in the election affidavit submitted by him. After examining the petition, the court issued the notices on Monday.
V. Vignesh, a resident of Chennai, filed the petition, claiming discrepancies in the affidavits submitted by Vijay. He is contesting the current Assembly elections from the Trichy and Perambur constituencies.
The petitioner alleged that while the assets declared in the affidavit submitted for Perambur were valued at Rs 115 crore, the asset value disclosed in the affidavit submitted to the Returning Officer in Trichy stood at Rs 220 crore. The petitioner further stated that Vijay failed to provide supporting documents to explain this discrepancy.
The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for next week.
