At least 10 suspected Kuki insurgents were killed in an encounter with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Jiribam, Manipur, today. A CRPF soldier was also injured and evacuated to Assam's Silchar Medical College. The clash began when militants attacked a police station, possibly targeting a nearby relief camp. The insurgents also set houses on fire in Jakurador Karong, a small settlement close to the station, while engaging in a gunfight with security forces. Weapons recovered included RPGs and AK rifles.

Kuki civil society groups have called for a shutdown in protest. Tensions have been rising in the region, with incidents of violence, including attacks on civilians, heightening unrest. Reinforcements have been sent to Jiribam as the security forces continue to respond to the escalating violence.
