Manipur Violence: 288 Central Forces Deployed as Fresh Clashes Erupt
Fresh violence broke out in Manipur after six bodies, including two children, were found following their kidnapping by suspected Kuki militants. In response, the central government deployed 288 companies of Central forces to restore order.
Kuldeep Singh, Director-General of CRPF, chaired a meeting in Imphal, issuing new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for forces. Violence has escalated between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo groups since May, claiming over 250 lives and displacing thousands.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge called for President Droupadi Murmu’s intervention, criticizing the government's failure to restore peace. BJP’s JP Nadda accused Congress of spreading a false narrative.
