A massive fire broke out in the engine room of the Gulf of Oman-bound ship Mt Yi Cheng 6, which was sailing from Kandla, Gujarat. The fire disabled the power supply, prompting the 14 Indian-origin crew members to send a distress call.
The Indian Navy responded swiftly, with INS Tambar deploying firefighters and equipment via boats and helicopters. The blaze is largely under control, and rescue operations are ongoing, the Navy confirmed.
