110 Arrested in West Bengal as Protests Against Waqf Act Turn Violent
Violent protests broke out in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district over the controversial Waqf Act amendment, causing significant disruption. Demonstrations spread to Malda, Hooghly, and South 24 Parganas, where protesters clashed with authorities, damaged railway property, and torched vehicles. Police forces responded, arresting 110 individuals, including 70 from Suti and 41 from Sanserganj. Authorities have imposed curfews and suspended internet services in Murshidabad to curb further unrest. Despite the ongoing tension, additional security forces have been deployed to restore peace.
