Chervugattu,Nalgonda, Telangana:  A tragic road accident in the United States claimed the life of a 24-year-old student from Telangana, leaving her family devastated. Navya Reddy, a native of Chervugattu village in Narkatpally mandal of Nalgonda district, died in a fatal car accident while pursuing her MS degree in Chicago.

Navya was the elder daughter of Gudusu Srinivas Reddy and Shobha, a tenant farmer couple from Chervugattu. After completing her BTech in Hyderabad, she moved to the United States nearly two-and-a-half years ago for higher studies. She had been pursuing her MS at Roswell University in Chicago. Her younger sister is currently studying BTech.

According to family members, Navya was travelling in a car on Saturday night when another vehicle reportedly hit their car from behind. The impact proved fatal, and she died on the spot. Her friend informed the family about the accident on Sunday afternoon.

The incident has plunged the family and the entire village into deep sorrow. Navya’s parents had pinned high hopes on her future and believed she would support the family after completing her studies and securing a job abroad.

Despite not owning agricultural land, Srinivas Reddy and Shobha cultivated nearly 10 to 15 acres of leased farmland every year to educate their daughters. To fund Navya’s education in the US, the family reportedly borrowed nearly Rs 50 lakh, including bank and private loans.

State Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and MLA Vemula Veeresham were informed about the incident. The family stated that efforts are currently underway to bring Navya’s mortal remains back to India.

The heartbreaking incident has drawn emotional reactions locally, as the dreams of a family striving for a better future ended in tragedy before their debts could even be repaid.
