One Body Recovered From Inundated Assam Coal Mine, Rescue Operations Continue

One body has been recovered from an inundated coal mine in Assam’s Dima Hasao, two days after water flooded the site, trapping nine workers. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the recovery, stating that the body was retrieved by 21 Para divers. Rescue operations are ongoing, with Navy, Army, NDRF, and SDRF teams on-site. Additionally, de-watering pumps are being readied for deployment. The Chief Minister mentioned the mine appeared to be illegal and an arrest has been made in connection with the incident. A case has been registered under the Mines and Minerals Act.
