PM Narendra Modi inaugurates Delhi Dehradun Expressway
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the much-anticipated Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, a major infrastructure project aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and boosting economic development.
Spanning a total length of 212 kilometers, the expressway has been constructed at an estimated cost of ₹11,868 crore. Also referred to as the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor, the project is expected to significantly benefit pilgrims traveling to the Char Dham and improve overall transportation efficiency.
One of the key highlights of the corridor is the drastic reduction in travel time between Delhi and Dehradun—from over six hours to approximately two and a half hours. The expressway has been developed with advanced engineering features, including measures to minimize human-animal conflict.
A notable component of the project is a 12-kilometer-long elevated wildlife corridor, recognized as one of the longest in Asia. This feature is designed to ensure safe movement of wildlife while maintaining uninterrupted traffic flow.
Ahead of the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister visited the revered Maa Dat Kali Temple near Dehradun and offered prayers.
Constructed as a six-lane expressway, the corridor passes through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, promising faster, safer, and more efficient travel for commuters.
