Birsa Munda's Birth Anniversary: PM Modi Hails Tribal Icon’s Sacrifice for the Nation

On the birth anniversary of tribal icon Birsa Munda, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in paying tributes to the freedom fighter. Prime Minister Modi hailed Munda for his supreme sacrifice in protecting the honor of the motherland, emphasizing his key role in mobilizing tribals against British rule.

Born in 1875 in what is now Jharkhand, Munda died in British custody at the young age of 25. PM Modi honored him on "Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas" and shared a video montage of his tributes. He also announced plans to visit Jamui, Bihar, for Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, which marks the start of Munda's 150th birth anniversary celebrations.

Modi extended wishes to the people of Jharkhand on the state's foundation day, noting the sacrifices of tribal communities in shaping the state. Jharkhand was formed in 2000, on Munda’s birth anniversary.
